Best Image Quality - Advice Needed

Hi all,

I have been lurking around these forums for a while now but have decided to make a thread as I need a little help choosing a new monitor (or a lot!). There seen to be some very knowledgeable people on this forum so any replies would be appreciated.

I think I would preferably like 24" but i'm willing to go smaller if there is an improvement in image quality. My budget is around £400.

Things you should know are that I am looking for a monitor that will ultimately be very good for playing back movies giving very sharp accurate colours and smooth playback which is my main priority, yet quick enough to play most games if possible as well as I dabble here and there. I am not sure whether I should be going for a 16:9 or a 16:10, or if this even matter for the above.

I realize that a TN panel would be best for games, but i'm more interested in image quality so i don't care for these and was looking at the newer IPS panels.

After a bit of research I have come across the below monitors that keep coming up but ultimately I need a second opinion and advice for what best suits my needs.

HP ZR24w
HP lp2475w
U2311H
U2410

Another issue I am having is that I understand that these 'wide gamut' monitors provide better accurate colours but mess up in windows as the colour profiles don't match or something? Not sure if thats true, but if someone could elaborate on that as well that would be most helpful.

So to summarize, what monitor has the best image quality available for around £400 and also has the ability to play games on without it bugging me.

Thanks in advance.
James

certainly get the u2410 if you can afford it, mine is great and you see a massive difference from a TN panel
