I've been using css image replacement (using text-indent and background imagery) for years now, has a better solution come to light yet? sIFR and the like were always pretty shabby and slow I found, and left non-AA outlines to the text...

Just thought a new way of doing things has maybe come about and I missed it?

sIFR3 might be slow, but only if you're on a computer from 1995. It's perfectly fine when used in moderation. I've recently decided to try it again and I found it much more reliable than before. Not nearly as many sizing problems.

Facelift is something else you could consider though I haven't tried it yet.
