Hi.

Well apparently my speed is been throttled my AOL because I download too much according to there fair usage policy, and the connection seems crappy anyway.

So I'm wondering, whats the best ISP to go for? I live up north in north yorkshire and cant get ISP's like Be so I dont know which is the best, any good ones thats cheaper than AOL and also have a better Fair Usage policy and dont keep throttling you?

It's too expensive going for a higher package.

How exactly do you know how much usage limit you got left? is there a meter somewere?

Is off peak between the times of 6PM and 12AM? so there is no Down speed throttle on this?

AOL say LLU is coming to my area in november (I think), does this mean it will be AOL only, the LLU part?

If the exchange near me got LLU, would this mean ADSL2 or something? or would it make it possible for me to get 6mb broadband comapred to my current max of 3.4 according to BT?

They are not going to as such. They are asking ISP's to start moving legacy connections over to MAX in preparation. They are a long way off from providing a cut off date.

So in time I'll see my speed get lower? I'm like 2300 meters from an exchange here.

Have you thought about getting cable if your far away from the exchanges or cant get many decent isps?

I went from AOl to virgin media and im very happy with it. I got a deal of 17 quid a month for 4mb cable and it never drops bellow 3.5mb and is usualy at 3.8/9 the whole time :)

No cable in my area at all :(
