As someone who suffers with an hypersensitivity to sound, I make it a key to use the quietest equipment I can. I do however want to get a decent keyboard so I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I've heard good things about Cherry MX Silent but I do not know how they compare to a regular membrane keyboard. Money is not the issue here, I am willing to pay good money for a decent keyboard providing it fits my criteria

There are only few "mechanical" switches which attempt to not be as much noisier over membrane than typical mechanical switches.
Cherry has that MX Silent, Logitech Romer-G and Topre with its rubber dome and capacitive detection.

Because of that rubber dome as major component Topre would be likely softest in its noise.

Half dozen years ago when trying different Cherrys in shop there was also Topre keyboard, but now Topres aren't available here in Finland, so can't say how it relates to these others.
Though if you would like illumination Topre is completely "dark" switch. (and still very expensive)

MX Silent is variant of MX Red, which is very light linear switch.
So its feel would be entirely different to membrane, which has highest resistance in upper part of travel with press registered only during bottoming.
Instead there would be very little feel before actuation point leading easily to accidental presses from resting fingers on keys.

Romer-G is non-linear switch with some resistance in start of travel.
I've myself used it since winter after nearly five years with MX Brown.
Should have switched earlier with sharp "clickety-clacketyness" of undamped MX Brown.
Have read some saying it being close to membrane in its feel.

i just recently got a logitech g810 and its pretty quiet but then again what is quiet for me might not be for you. might be better to actually go into a shop and try them.

Logitech Illuminated Keyboard (K740), is the quietest I've ever used. It's also nice to type on (actuation bump and non-linear).

Not suitable for gaming though (key ghosting), and you got to be OK with that type of key (low profile, laptop-style keyboard, sort of a mini-mechanical).

Chiclet keyboards can be very quiet. Mechanicals, even MX Red / MX Blacks / MX Silent are not.

In my experience as a heavy typer, I tried red/brown/blue switches and realised that it was me bashing the keys that made noise.

You can add rubber o-rings to somewhat dampen the existing noise on most mechanical keyboards, but perhaps it's worth looking at your technique to rule that out first.

Steelseries M800 keyboard has QS1 switches, extremely quiet. I prefer Cherry MX brown personally but I'm stuck with this thing for a while now :)

I would honestly say that membrane is likely the quietest you are going to get though, particularly logitech.
