best LAN/network messenger?

hi guys

i'm looking for best LAN/network messenger that we can use on work network. must be internal only, not go out to the internet.

doesnt have to be free as employer will pay

Was asked to find something similar myself not long ago and saw this

We use MS Office Communicator which integrates into AD so can search and add people easily, no idea how much it costs etc...

There's also OpenFire, which uses the Jabber Protocol. It's free for the open-source version, comes with its own client and can auth against AD when using the LDAP auth mode.

What's even better is that they've just released some of the advanced enterprise reporting tools as open source, meaning you can check message logs etc.

netsend if its enabled then find a graphical front end for it loads do it.

just dont send it to everyone especially if it contains swearwords to your mate. (don't ask how i found out but the spread of beeps across the office will haunt me to my grave)
