Please suggest me best laptop for price around $1200.

I am interested to get big screen. Its for office use mostly.

discussion of competitors is not allowed here Peon (check the faq), ocuk do sell a range of laptops here (look at the sub-categories for more models). I'm not an expert on laptops, but find what's in your price range and ask again for advice if you like what you see.

When you say a 'big screen' how big do you mean? I use a 15" wide and it's big enough for my office use.

for that price range id look at a xps m1530. has hdmi so very good for media streaming.

15.4 inch screen which is very good quality.

Sorry, I didn't mention display size. I am looking for 17''.

I started this thread because I didn't find enough resources for laptops with 17'' display size. Hopefully you don't mind. :)

Some of the replies in this thread are a bit harsh, he's not asking where to buy it but what machines people recommend (which most of the threads in the hardware forums are about).

Unfortunately I have no idea on laptops in the specification you want so can't help, although I guess you'll want it for around £600 if it's US dollars? How about a Dell, they are usually pretty cheap and well built?

I was also first confused that why ppl were so harsh to me but then I thought they might be mistaken because they have helped me in past very much.

You recommend Dell Inspiron 1720 ?

the range of laptops available is vast, for your needs i would say something like a low end toshiba P200 series, or if you like a nicer looking laptop the DV9000 series are hard to beat, if its not for games then try and get the best hd and cpu combination to give best performance for $$

btw I think XPS 1730 of Dell is quite good in this category.

what you say?
Why buy a premium gaming laptop for office use? And it's way beyond $1200, the cheapest XPS M1730 on the Dell site is $2000 (assuming that's US dollars, you didn't say). No offense but I agree with Beermonster, you need to do some basic research yourself rather than expecting other people to do it for you, and you need to visit some shops to see them in person and play with them - i.e. see what the screen viewing angles are like, what the keboard feels like, what the track pad feels like, see how heavy they feel etc. If you don't you face a good chance of getting something disapointing or plain unsuitable.

Also asking for recommendations - most people are just going to recommend what they've got, and generally won't have used a wide range of laptops.

Well, I think these days 90% shoppers decide online about what to buy and order online. And only 10% goes and wanders in shopping malls to get information.

Why you want me to push in minority?

btw what size do you think would be good for eyes 15'' or 17'' ?

Though I like big screen.

Personally if I were spending such a large amount of money I'd want to see what I was buying in person. It's what I did before buying my laptops and it helped me make good decisions.

The problem is you don't seem to know what you're looking for, so a shop is a good place to start since you can see 30-40 laptops all set out and working and see which designs you like, which seem well built, which have nice keyboards and trackpads, which have nice screens with good viewing angles, whether they are too big etc. Since you asked you can also see for yourself whether you prefer a 15" or 17" screen.

TBH any $600 laptop can do office tasks just fine if that's all it's needed for.

If he wants an office machine, then why not look at the Dell for office use, then the Vostro with a 17 inch screen.
Big and heavy maybe but lots of horsepower for the money and easy to make it for $1200.
