My dads after a laptop thats not too small (like an eee pc) but not a full sized laptop. Just one that he can use downstairs and when he goes on holiday.
It needs to have decent wireless for easy connectivity and be fast enough to use the net and not really much else. Maybe watching films and playing a couple of games now and again. Also needs to be easy enough to setup to use in our house (though we dont have wireless setup yet)

Price range is £300 - £500 but would prefer to be in the lower region.

Thanks

I would look at machines from Dell, Samsung or Lenovo. The features you want are pretty much standard. Playing games might be a problem at the cheaper end of your budget, depending if you mean high frame rate graphics intensive games.

Rgds

I got a samsung around a year ago for uni work for £350 and it was perfect. Im able to play some games (warcraft 3, NWN, BG and if i push it CSS) not to mention its perfect for web browsing. Only downside being there isnt much HD space.

What sort did you get, hes looking for something that wont make his eyes look like wee holes in snow, but is also light enough to carry around. (doesnt need to be stupidly light though)

I think i got the R20. Im sure you will find a much better updated version now though. Oh and another downside was the screensize is 14" but then i needed this size for making it easy to carry around.
