Best lawnmower for sloping lawn

I have a largish area of lawn which has quite a slope on it in places. Up until now, I've borrowed a neighbours lawnmower which is a petrol, non-propelled variety and is proving quite difficult to manage on the banking. Pictures of the lawn:

Additionally, I'm finding it quite difficult to cut to the edges where it's banked. Is the best idea to remove some of the turf to make the distance between the lawn and the hedging more defined and use a strimmer, or are there any other considerations/options?

So I'm looking for a view on what would be the best type of lawnmower would be (e.g. cordless, self-propelled etc) and why.

Strim the edges and get a decent self-propelled mower with chevron pattern “agri” tyres on the driving wheels.

One or two rotary blade type, not a cylinder mower as they’re for super flat bowling green lawns.

I’d say you want to avoid a corded electric mower due to the size of your lawn. Battery powered ones have improved greatly over recent years, but I’ve not used one myself.

Thank you. Will look into that. I'm assuming the "agri" tyres will prevent "slipping" which the one I'm using has been prone to doing.

They’ve made all the difference to my ride on mower which I use on similar slopes to yours. Even when the grass looks fully dry, it’s still damp and slippery close to the soil.

well i was going to say cordless mower but youve got quite a lawn there ,ive got a 40 volt cordless that will do mine but its long maybe 170 ft but pretty narrow ,i can do it on a full charge ,think 20 mins is the run time but its variable power. maybe you would need afew batterys !!
really pleased to get rid of my noisy unreliable petrol stuff and have gone for a cordless hedge trimmer and strimmer also ,the tricky edge bits near plants i use those one handed shears

Self propelled petrol power, I bought a average priced mount-field one and it does the trick and never missed a beat in 3 years use about the same slope as yours but be prepared for lots of trips to dump the grass box :)

Oh and a cylinder mower would be fine for that lawn with some quality stripes. Just take a little more care. (I used to design cylinder mowers :) )

well ,the one handed shears are pretty slow but tbh my ex does most of the trimming and on a nice sunny day its just such a nice place to be ,i think you can get compact cordless ones though also

well you got me thinking about it and just ordered some aldi cordless ones to add to my chargeless collection , £19.99 and added some sun cream to get free delivery over 20 quid

following on from above post had these a while now and best 20 quid ive spent the other tool is great for delicate hedge work around plants
btw pic is in my potting shed ,thats not my room floor !

I also recommend a good self propelled petrol mower, from a decent brand say like mountfeild for example.
I have one, had it for about 5-6 years, gets used regularly, and it's looked after very well with services etc. Starts first time every time, and never had any issues, so it's worth getting something decent and looking after it and it will serve you for many years.

Thanks for all the input. I ended up going for a Hyundai self propelled petrol mower which had some good reviews. Very pleased with it and doesn’t take too long to finish the garden. Manages the slopes fine too which is great.
