I couldn't notice a topic specifically for this and the main L4D thread is immense.

Looking round other forums I'm surprised to see that Blood Harvest is the least popular campaign. For me it's the most suspenseful. The claustrophioc atmosphere of the woods is really taxing, and the finale in the cornfield and barn is excellent [wish everyone would just make it to the barn instead of staying in the house].

Second favourite is Death Toll for the church and boathouse finale. I also love the feeling of small town America.

Dead Air is also great - another good final - and the offices are fantastic, especially with swarms of the undead climbing over the cubicles and the baggage conveyors. I nearly always die in the main foyer after starting the van. It's best if everyone just stays on the escalators or behind the desk near the check-in area. No Mercy is my least favourite at the moment - it just bores me.

Would be good if some mod could turn this in to a poll, just out of interest.

Preference order is:

Blood Harvest
<--small gap-->
Death Toll
<--small gap-->
Dead Air
<--large chasm-->
No Mercy

I really like death toll, as you said, the boathouse finale is awesome :)
That would definitely be my vote.

No Mercy is one of the better campaigns, and most balanced for Vs... It's only not liked due to it being played so much (demo, default level loaded,etc).

dead air is the best.

me and my mate watched that plane crash, and I got goosebumps. It was amazing to watch.

the barn on blood harvest is a death trap. first time we played (expert) we held the whole top floor bedrooms, for some stupid reason. took us an age to win that :D

however i cant wait for the new game mode and new lighthouse map. 2 tanks and multiple hunter/smoker/boomer combos AT THE SAME TIME!

No Mercy (agree with Aekeron with the reasoning behind its unpopularity) > Dead Air > Death Toll > Blood Harvest (The finale is quite dull if the survivors choose to hold up in one place, be it the barn or the radio room :( )

I'm so looking forward to Dead Air on Versus :) Death Toll will be fun aswell.

@ Psypher: What new lighthouse map? Is it unofficial?

Hadn't heard about this either. It's official and will be available as DLC.

There is one entirely brand-new level in the DLC called Lighthouse which the designers say may be the toughest level of them all.

Lighthouse is exactly that; a lighthouse atop a seaside cliff. You also get a sense of what you're in for when you realize that you start with a ridiculous amount of stuff at your disposal. There are about a dozen gasoline containers and propane tanks, as well as plenty of Molotov Cocktails and pipe bombs. It's like that age-old first-person shooter tradition of giving you plenty of ammo and health before encountering a major boss. What makes Lighthouse so dangerous is that it's a pretty open level; there aren't a lot of places to hide, and those places are pretty porous once the zombies start knocking holes in walls.

Good subject, depends on the game really.

Coop for me it's:

Air, Toll, Harvest, No Merc

Purely for the fact that the first two aren't played over and over due to VS atm. Therefore I play them less on average and enjoy them more. As coop maps they offer more detail and thought.

I'd say VS it's close, but:

NM1 > BH1
BH2 > NM2
NM3 > BH3
BH4 > NM4
NMF > BHF

NM has arguably a better finale (rooftop possibilities) and better maps for pouncing as hunter. However, BH can be interesting if people know what they are doing.
BH doesn't have the worst 4th level in the history of gaming ever (NM Hospital, yawn). It is a rush fest but is generally more interesting and diverse, rather than: corridor, door, corridor, corridor, door, staircase, door, corridor, elevator, corridor, corridor, safe room.

As I said for VS, it really depends on your team, preferences and skills.

@ matt and lysander + everyone

yah its official (cheers for the post lys,) saw some videos of survival mode gameplay. Valve managed around 10mins surviving. They say its mega hard!

They had a constant number of infected (AI) with double hunters + boomer + smoker. Even had a double tank + boomer + hunters.

There will be milestones in time for you to get too, gold is 8 mins iirc, bronze is like 4 mins haha!

Modified maps for survival too :D

Will have to check this out - sounds rather cool actually :)

(and quite like Killing Floor. Successive waves, increasing difficulty, etc).

So you can't "finish" the map? The idea is just to survive as long as possible?

Yep, imagine playing a finale but instead of getting the boat, plane, chopper, apc - you have to stand there and keep fighting, until death :)

Sounds like it could be awesome fun...not if the Boss Infected played by AI though...

I played the demo loads but i still like No Mercy as my fav!

No Mercy

Dead Air

Death Toll

Blood harvest

But i like them all really, i never pick a certain level, i just click random, the last 5 times 'random' has choosen Dead Air but the games different everytime / different team etc..

Such an amazing game!! cant wait for these new levels and stuff :cool::cool:

I think it would be wicked if you could choose to have players as both, or have 8 survivors playing or just have 4 survivors...that could be quite fun. :cool:
