i have heard such good comments about lian lis and i was wondering what is the best one for around 80 quid?

coolmaster are also said to be good whats the best one of them for around 80 quid? are they better than lian li?

Value for money, cooling or build quality?

You also including mATX cases and old discontinued models?

Varies hugely depending on what you want, and they are not always the best option depending on what you want.

Best case sub £80 all round is the PC7+ though, without a doubt in my mind.

You may have trouble fitting large cpu coolers in the pc-g50 due to the side fitting psu location, and i dont see a windowed side panel available on the lian-li web site for that particular model, so you would have to knock something up yourself.
Looks like the silver pc7+ and windowed side panel for just over 78 quid would be the right lian-li case for you

I said PC50, not the PC-G50. ;)

Completely different case.

True, my most sincere apologies, but the psu is still side mounted albeit at the top, instead of the bottom, so will still have the same issues fitting large cpu coolers, and when did ocuk start stocking the pc50 :p

It is slightly wider than the G50 giving a few more options, but yes it will limit heatsinks from raised heatpipe cooler designs.

Don't think OcUK have ever stocked it, if they did most likely 3 years ago.

I picked a few up new for £30 including delivery around 8 months back, great buy as the Super Lanboy was £60 at the time. :)

yea i would pick the pc7+ but it just seems a bit small

Small? What do you plan on fitting in it?

Edit: Got 3HDs, dvd writer, freezer 64 pro and a huge graphics cooler in mine (7800gt), fan controller etc. and theres still enough space for another HD and 3 more optical drives

The PC7+ is a normal sized case. Plenty of room to fit most things in and still work on it.

Unless your after a full tower, then your looking at double your budget to get any Lian Li options.

Akasa Silvermountain 2Q =

Yes PC50.
No G50.

Motherboard tray height, or PSU mounting space.

Not had the joy of both at the same time so could not tell you, but the PC50 is less complicated, no frills design with more internal space.

Unusual thing to be brought up on so have no details on it.

I will try to find this one out as you have gotten my mind going.

But I think its the motherboard tray on the G50 is sturdier and further foreward than on the PC50.

Will have to find out as it will be a niggle in the back of my head for ages otherwise.

What i find strange is the fact that the pc50 had a removable motherboard tray and the pc-g50 does not, this should actually give more clearance for a bigger cpu cooler. Well i'll leave the research to you because i definately wont have a niggle in the back of my mind over this, lol
