Best lightweight media player?

Media Player Classic or VLC, Personally I would prefer the latter.

VLC or MPC. Probably MPC more nowadays. Given me hassle with some DVDs.

winamp lite for music

install it on a machine, then copy the winamp folder to usb stick or whatever, runs fine from there

Media Player Classic stopped being updated a while ago so these have taken it on and added some cool new features and fixed some of the old bugs. Give it a try.
