The Gentoo 2008.0 is indeed a live CD and isnt it a bonus!!!
While its great to have a lot of choice in this world, and we get a hell of a lot of choice with Linux, as well we all know, however...
I myself am finding that there is so much choice, that I am running between them like a headless chicken wondering which to go for... When I finally do go for one, I am then thinking was it the best one for me and so I go and try another one... I keep doing this all the time, and I never really settle down.
My main Linux box however is running Sabayon and my Laptop is battling a few distros out at the moment trying to find one that will let me have Compiz and for the MousePad buttons to work without it crashing all the time, but no!
Too much choice I feel.
Anyway, on my previous LapTop, whcih is an XP2600 /1GBRAM / 40GBHD / S3 Virge Graphics I found that Kubuntu was perhaps the fastest distro and I felt it was faster than ubuntu and xubuntu and I had them setup as close as each other as I thought I could and only the GUI was the difference... In fact, even when I moved Kubuntu onto xfce it was still faster than xubuntu ( Never did get that? )
