Best looking monitor?

What do you guys all think the best looking monitors out now are? I don't mean the panels, but the casing the panels are in. All apple fans point at design as a typically apple-related trait, but I've always figured, should someone want to, a windows desktop setup could easily be just as elegant, and in keyboard, mouse and tower cases, this is true. However no monitor has ever really made me think "damn, that looks good", and while clearly people care more about the panel, there has to be some incentive for manufacturers to make something other than the standard recessed panel, glossy black bevel that seems to be the only real option at the moment?

I haven't done a huge amount of research on this, I was just curious, as while I'm perfectly happy with my Iiyama E2710, it is a little big for my room, and I'd rather have a clean desktop setup than anything else, I don't mind too much about gaming performance etc.

That is massively subjective. Personally I quite like the look of some of Samsung's EcoFit panels - the XL2370 in particular. The P2450H is also quite nice looking to me but looks a little more angular and unusual. If you like the look of some of Samsung's new TVs then the FX2490HD might also be appealing.

So yeah - for me, I think the styling of Samsung monitors is a bit ahead of the game at the moment. The ASUS Designo series is also quite elegant. http://www.zawya.com/story.cfm/sidZAWYA20101003102351/ASUS Wins 12 Good Design 2010 Awards. Others will of course have a different opinion.

I went for the P2450, as I like it`s angular looks. It has a fairly thin bezel which is glossy and has a transparent border. It`s a very nice looking monitor and performs really well.

PCM2`s current recommendation is another Samsung, the B2430H. It`s supposed to be a really good monitor. Personally, it looks a little too "rounded" to me. It looks a bit more like a TV than a PC monitor and the bezel is slightly wider. However, some people may prefer it, so it`s down to personal taste.

While the above suggestions do all look nice enough, it pure glossy black really all that manufacturers other than apple are selling nowadays? It just all seems a bit samey to me, although the glass extended bevels on the Samsungs do look pretty nice :)

Honestly, I'm not really interested in "looks", beyond the screen itself.

So long as the monitor is black, has a matt-finish on the screen, is of decent build quality, and has a relatively thin bezel, then it does the job. For me, it all comes down to the quality and performance of the screen.

Doesn`t "black, has a matt-finish on the screen, and has a relatively thin bezel" narrow down how you want your monitor to look ?

I have to give a recommendation to the Dell Ultrashrap range.

Really nice looking and quality monitors.. maybe a little expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Well, the matt-finish is a screen-property really, I guess.

As for the other two - black certainly is a "looks" thing, but the vast majority of screens are black anyway. Narrow bezel is a nice extra (for the chance of going with a triple screen setup), but I wouldn't sacrifice very much screen quality for it.

The vast majority of screens would fit my "looks" criteria I think. It's not something I pay too much attention to.

Exactly what I want from my monitor, I do not like glossy surfaces and I don't want any lights on it or elaborate designs. Just ordered U2311H so in terms of design it looks just perfect to me hopefully the image quality will live up to expectations :)

If only the panel lived up to it :D

Could look good with a diNovo set up, but there's other stuff I'm saving for atm so it's just an idea really atm :(

i've ofter wondered if it would be possible to make a custom bezel, never found a monitor i really liked the look of and it seems no one here has either!!
just too scared to dismantle the ones i have in case they don't work again!

That looks like or similar to the Asus Designo series I mentioned above. They are supposed to be decent panels actually.

It is part of the Designo series. Decent panels, yes, but outperformed by the BenQ G2222222222(recurring :P) which costs nearly half as much :S
