Hi all

I have seen dirt 2 in its full dx11 glory on a 50 inch lcd tv on my bros pc and i cant think of a better looking racing game.

So as the title suggests, in everyones opinion what is the best looking pc racing game?

not sure if any of the older games have been modded to be up to date. But i do know that codemasters are making one and pretty sure its coming to the pc too just not sure when

Are you sure its not a 52 inch? LOL I'd say Dirt 2 too:)

LOL my bad bruv;)

So far i like every game mentioned in this thread
sonic allstars racing is a great game but graphically the best nah
grid is another fantastic game but i think the graphics in dirt 2 just have that bit more too them

NFS: Shift is easily the best looking driving game on the PC.

Call me crazy but I vastly prefer the look of Rally Trophy, FlatOut, Richard Burns Rally, GT Legends and iRacing over Shift/Dirt 2/GRID/F1 2010. Probably not a very popular opinion but I really dislike the way racing games look these days. Bloom issues aside, most racing games look... messy these days. Too much colour, not enough color, too dark, not bright enough. There's too much going on - these games try to pull your attention away from the core driving experience. Shift is easily the worst with the amount of trackside objects it has and the ridiculous shaky cam effect that has nothing to do with real life racing. Smooth and clean is how I prefer driving games but I guess screenshots without tons of blur don't look good to most people nowadays.

Bit of a useless comment really as I doubt anyone will now launch iRacing to get some screenshots but anyway, anyone else feel the same way?

anyone else feel the same way?

Not me. :-)

Although iRacing is obviously the most satisfying driving experience, Shift really blew me away and converted me into a graphics tart. Ok, the OTT track enhancements and the game side of things is a turn-off, but I love all the special effects and find the whole visual experience incredibly immersive... more so than I ever expected.

It's just a shame the driving is much less satisfying. Still, that doesn't stop me thrashing round The Ring regularly. It really is the most immersive racing experience I've ever had in some ways. Possibly because I run a 3 screen setup and the motion blur on the side screen works wonderfully.

Or maybe I'm just easily pleased. :-)

I respect your opinion, but Dirt 2 looking horrid? Can you say why you think that?

Its not just Dirt2, I don't like the engine that CM use for all their current games - EGO or whatever it is....everything is brown, and theirs too much bloom going on. I prefer the clean look of other games like Shift.
