If you had to pick one game that stood out in your mind as well made i.e runs well, no bugs and overall good game. What would it be?

I think CS:S is really good. It just feels that its optimized to run at its best.

when css first came out i had a lot of problems with it, after a few updates it got better tho and now its fine

It's still got a few problems:

1. Run round the corner grenade throwing animation
2. Mass side switching exit (like in matches)
3. Sometimes just randomly makes processor usage go up to 100%
4. Free ammo (actually a bug?)

I could probbaly get that up to 10.

Still a very nice game to play. I only know those bugs because I play it so much. :p

Hmmm, good question. I'd suggest the following:

Max Payne 2
Very slick, well polished affair with a good balance of visuals and performance. Excellent attention to detail and includes some in-jokes as well.

Call of Duty
Admittedly I didn't play this until a good year after it's release, but it just seemed to be a very well choreagraphed affair, a great atmosphere and plays like a runaway train, the gaming equivalent of a page-turner novel. Good graphics considering the aging Q3 engine it used, it also features an excellent score coupled with the historical element.

Halflife 2 - Episode 1
The original HL2 is not without it's flaws, however Valve refined their masterpiece and this is a very well presented affair.

WH40K - Dawn of War
Good attention to detail, capturing the GW ethos very well. Excellent FMV, a slick interface, this has pretty much everything I want from an RTS. Very easy to pick up and play.

^While I'm a big fan of the above games, I wouldn't say they are my favourites - simply the best made.

For PC? best game, with no bugs.

SOF2, also COD 2 and F.E.A.R. falls under that category.

HL2, completed it 2 years ago, I liked it and want to play it again ffs, I just want to play singleplayer but can't due to shi... steam.

All these people saying HL2 - are you forgetting how plagued it was with engine inefficiencies when it was released? Sure, it scales fantastically - but a HUGE amount of people suffered the dreaded Stutter bug, which ruined the experience for many!

To say it's the best made game isn't very fair, as it took a lot of updates to get it as polished as it is now.
