Best Media Centre Software

XBMC is by far the best like some one mentioned above, the amount of things that can be customized is huge plus there is plenty of skins to make XBMC a lot more better.

I've been using MediaPortal for years now, combined with Argus TV (formerly For The Record). I did briefly try XBMC, but didn't really get on with it. Not sure why. Probably because MediaPortal just works (for what I use it for) and .... just as probably because I CBA to fiddle around with something else at the moment

never had any issues with it, just name the file correctly and you'll get artwork/movie information/etc.

Same here, i got a logitech harmony remote and used the windows media centre remote that i had lying around to teach it the commands to control xbmc. The windows remote IR reciever works really well with it!

I use Media Portal for my live TV using the Hauppage nova tv tuner, i have a "live tv" menu in XBMC and it uses the advanced launcher plugin to load up media portal straight to the Live TV EPG

Why not just use MP if you dont mind me asking? its customisation surpasses anything xbmc can offer you these days

I'm quite taken by the default Titan skin of the latest release, use to be avid streamedmp fan but this has a more polished feel.

Ahh, but I don't use TV Server. It's always (from my experience) been fairly unreliable. That's where Argus TV comes in ... as well as for it's fantastic scheduler.

I just tried the 1.3 RC the other day. Think I still prefer the default wide skin, if only for the fact the fonts are bigger

The downside with the RC at the moment is that watched programs aren't all showing as watched. Not sure if that's skin specific though.
