Best media playback ?

If you play the same movie through a Ps3 and 360 which would give the best picture quality,is one better at upscaling than the other or would they both be the same ?
 
Unless you are going to use the PS3's bluray player, i would expect that the picture would be almost identical. The only difference is likely to be which formats they support. I don't think either will play MKVs, and the xbox has an odd problem which affects avi files if they are above 2gb and have 5.1 surround sound, meaning they skip all the time. It's really a matter of personal choice.
 
Yep, they'll be almost identical in terms of dvd playback quality. PS3 plays blu ray as well though remember and avi's and so on.
If you want a console for media playback, ps3 wins by a landslide. If you want a console to play games, xbox has the edge.

I got both at xmas and im just wondering which to use as my primary media player,not got any blue rays atm so thats not important :)
 
PS3 for media by far

(Oh and best "How can I tell everyone that I had both at Christmas but not look to obvious that I am" thread ever :p:D)

This please,ive never had a ps3 before so dont know what half the menue options do id like to set it up for the best upscaling of AVI files :)
