Hello,
I'm looking for the best memory upgrade for £150 or less, be it 2gb or 1gb, though I'd prefer 2gb.

I'm interested in 2gb corsair xms pc4000 or the cas 2 pc3200 (they're the same aren't they?), and the 2gb g-skill HZ pc4000 or the g-skill zx cas 2 pc3200 (the same, again?).

Which is the best? Any other suggestions? I'll consider 1gb of faster ram for around £120 if anyone thinks that's better.

I'm running my opty 146 with an fsb of 266, so I don't suppose I could get them to run 1:1 with the fsb? I'll use a divider with tighter timings if I find that to be faster.

Thanks for your help. :p

Just seen the Mushkin 1GB DDR XP4400 Extreme Performance. Would that be better than 2gb of slower ram?

Mate all depends on what you plan to do. Game then 2GB all the way even if it is slower that 1GB regards timmings.

TBH i think 2GB is the only way to go nowdays. Regards what set id get then HZ will do just fine :D

Yeah, I'll be gaming. I've used 1gb and had no real problems, maybe the odd jerking about in F.E.A.R. and C&C Generals.

Does 2gb really make that much of a difference?

Gives a lot smoother gameplay when it comes to the most recent games, Bf2 on high settings, fear etc. I reckon you're best going for it now as you'll end up doing it in future and will only have to flog the 1gb kit.
