Thought I would ask in the cooling section (hoping for a hench answer)

Laptop idles 90c. Gaming it crashes badly :o POS i know, but its the only one I got, when its cool its ok :D

Any ideas on how to cool the sucker? No idea what the current state of laptop cooling is... Ive used usb laptop pads before and they sucked (were cheap ones though)

I dont mind if its plugged in to the wall as long as I can game on it - has there ever been nifty ideas, like take the base off and use X or Y cooling and voila!?

cheers

its a toshiba p50t b 113. also only 3 years old, and theydiscontinued it after about a year or two. probably because its rubbish :) I also put an SSD in it and so therefore got no comeback when I realised the dam thing gets HOT.

basically one of those with the rubbish fan & heatpipes.

I'll get some new thermal, ive checked for dust clogging everything up, and it works SO MUCH BETTER ive now got the case off...

Any thoughts on somehow freezing that part of the MOBO? when it starts up at 50c idle - fallout 4 was even slightly playable, then it gets hot and melts enough so I cant even get a playable enter the gungeon. :D

Ive got the laptop out of the case for all this morning, yes the case does affect it a lot but also its just crap anyway (cpu & gpu are both 91c, i just checked)

Does it matter directly cooling the chips or would cooling the heatpipes on top still have an effect?

I was thinking about being able to unclip the base, then place the current heatsinks on two more heatsinks with some thermal paste, then cool them? thoughts?

that would mean I could clip the base back on for travel, like a normal laptop again

sounds stupid to me but just thinking outside the box - cooling is not a forte

like glue it to a laptop stand that has watercoolers for the cpu & gpu.

bloody hell thats ridiculous. so embarrassing I might as well get a decent laptop later in the year :D

anyway ordered some thermal paste and i'll try to clean it and see. i've got another two builds coming up anyway so there will be things to try

ah, i've never seen those before. - ah well i'll have a look when i have a moment.

Thing is, I burnt my finger earlier on the heatpipes - its still a little sore - so they are defo channelling heat away from the chips, that fan is proper pathetic, really weak.
