Hi Guys...just been looking for a new case, and noticed the silverstone sugo SG01, looks a little beauty....what would be the best micro atx board to purchase? The Asus A8N-VM CSM Micro ATX looks ok, i want to build a fast small gaming system... based around an athlon x2 4600 dual core cpu and nvidia 7900 gtx graphics card.... also would i be able to use a double slot card in such a system?

Appreciate any input.

Kind Regards Nat

I'm not normally a fan of FoxConn kit, but built a couple of machines around the 6150K8MA-8EKRS, and they have been excellent

Hi...was just looking at the infinity, going to see if i can find a few reviews, what cooler would you suggest?

Its pretty tight in there, i got an SG01 just a few days ago, and had fun fitting it :) Make sure any cooler you get isnt more than 78mm in height, and you should be fine.

I got a Thermaltake Golden ORB II cooler, and it fits snug, but it fits. You will need to make sure of the width of the cooler as well, think this one is 125mm wide or something, and its a tight fit. Depending on where the ZIF socket is on the mob yo umight get limited, have to check around for it. Zalman's seem to be popular for the Sugo, go give them a look.

Also, try and get a really short PSU to give you more room for cabling, or get a Modular PSU, i got a Tagan EasyCon, and its a god send! There really is no where to hide all the cables that you wont use from a wired PSU.

im currently using the stock cooler (the one with the pipes) that came with my opteron 165

got the whole lot sitting in an aspire

Hijack time - sorry :D

I have the same question, but want to define best as, best overclocking m-atx.

I have a spare Oppy 146 and want a small game rig , so am after a m-atx board that can handle 270fsb min and maybe upto 300

What's possible?

Been looking at -
DFI infinity
biostar Tforce 6100-939
..and a few asrock offerings.

Anyone have any experience of the above, or can suggest any better?

I don't really care about all the other stuff most m-axt ers worry about, onboard GPU performance, DVI out, etc. Just want a fast and small board for games.

What is "guaranteed*" min 270?

* nothing is guaranteed but most likely :D

Cheers guys.

Well I can guarantee the Biostar will do about 300 in most cases. However, the DFI does look to be the superior performer now.

Hi thanks for all the replies ....ok narrowed it down to either the MSI K8NGM2-FID or the foxconn 6150K8MA-8EKRS, which would be the best board out of those two? not bothered about onboard graphics or sound as will be using a nvidia 7900 gt ( or gtx if i can stretch to one ) and mystique 7.1 sound card.... after a board thats nice and stable and won't crash out whilst gaming.

Thanks again in advance.

Regards Nat

I can definitely recommend the MSI K8NGM2-FID. It has several advantages over the Asus. They are very hard to find in the UK though :/

Marc

likewise...use one in my media centre pc..all the features you could wish for :)

Mate - if you look at the front of the PSU (where the cables come out)- what side does the cables come out? I'm looking for one for my XCube, but want a small one with cables coming out fo rthe left jamd side looking at it. I have seen a few posts saying the Seasonic was good, but then some more with folks saying they had to trim bits off the PSU or case to get it to fit. I'd rather not do that if I can help it.
