Hey,

What are the best midrange plasmas these days?

I had a 46" G10 a few years ago which was about 700 quid, i imagine a decent 42-46" plasma would be a bit less now? I know not what the modern G series is though, Panasonic still the brand to go for?

Thanks,

Tom.

Yep Panasonic still make the best plasmas, though no 46'' size any more, so its 42 or 50, the best midrange is the TXP42/50ST50 which is freeview HD, 2000hz 3D smart tv, and will look better than the G10 you currently have.

The current version on the G10 is the GT50 again in 42 or 50'' though the 50 is really hard to get hold of.

The 42ST should be around the £700-800 mark and the 50 is just over a grand, the 42gt is around a £1000 and the 50GT is around £1300 ish.

Still prefer the look of LEDs personally, horses for courses and all that. Just bought 5 Samsung ES panels for work, love them. Also have a 46" Samsung smart LED for home, cant fault it.

Hmm Costco have the TX-P50VT30B for £900 inc vat atm, which seems 1-200 cheaper than anywhere online....cant find a bad review either, seems to be "the best TV panasonic have ever made" with black rivalling the Pioneer sets?

Better buy for £900 than this?

Thats last years top model, it was a great telly, but as always its been surpased by the VT50, it uses the older IR glasses unlike the new blutooth ones, and some of the new apps for the smartviera wont work on it, seems panasonic dont worry to much about backwards compatibilty.

As mentioned the GT50 is the replacement model. ST50 series is a bit cheaper, but a lower range. The VT50 is the top end and probably the best TV of any make at the moment (reference award from AV F)

I know comparing it with the vt50 the vt50 will be better, but the vt50 is nearly double the money... It would be a ut50 id be comparing with it at this price point, in store the Vt30 looks massively better to my eye?

The gt50 is also well over a grand.

Is there a better sub £900 tv?

Haha saw that, I only really want brand new with decent 5 year warranty unless it is lol cheap :)

Cheers though

Pfft :p

I reckon you should save the extra few hundred and go for the GT50 mate. When you're already forking out that much, the extra couple of hundred is worth it. The 50in VT30s were prone to the green splodge problem, I'd not bother with the risk unless you could demo the exact set before you buy it!

Yeah if your comparing the VT30 vs the UT50 the VT will win hands down, as it has the infinite blackpro filter and thx certification, I would buy it over the UT definatly.

went for the VT30...nearly went for the 51" Samsung D8000 plasma last minute but all reviews say the VT30 is better.

Quick one...have got the iphone and android app for viera, but cant figure out how to connect it? TV is connected to the internet via ethernet and it is working with youtube etc, but when the phone on the same wifi opens the app, it just sits on "select device" on a blank list. I have found a setting to enable "network remote control", and that is on. Still can't see it from either phone :\

Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Tom.

This years ST50 is meant to trump last years VT (if your room isnt too reflective)

You can get a ST50 with 5 year warranty for just over a grand if you shop about or get RS to pricematch

EDIT oops saw that you've bought the VT30, still a cracking set and you can;'t beat Costco CS if it goes **** up
