Best mobile to tether to ipad ?

I have a iphone atm and as a phone its rubish(great at everything else) .

The phone needs to be able to tether to my ipad

Not a brick and cheap

Anything with Android 2.2. Portable WiFi hotspot mode is perfect for this.

Find a handset you like the style of, that is in budget.

its rubbish as a phone i cant hear it ringing on full volume in my pocket and also signal is poor compared to the wifes blackberry. also not real sure about jailbreaking

Vodafone said that my iPhone wans't compatible with my current 5GB tethering plan. Apparently I had to buy an iPhone tethering plan for four times the cost. :rolleyes: A quick jailbreak and all works fine though. :D
 
I see tethering in the options but need to contact my provider .
apple dont miss a trick . I do like apple but i think its a case of being to greedy
 
The cheapest option would be to jailbreak your iphone. If not then a Orange San Fransisco unlocked and flashed to a 2.2 froyo rom for about £110 is the cheapest you'll get a reasonable Android phone for. Another option would be to ditch the phone part and just put your sim in a mifi device.

It's not Apple being greedy, it's the networks who want to charge you more for tethering.
