best modem for low snr?

Low snr is bad, the lower the snr the more noise on your line. You want high snr for the best connection. You may be thinking of high attenuation but you can't really do much to change that as its dictated by your distance from the exchange

EDIT: Sorry, misunderstood your question as needed a modem that could increase your SNR

I think he knows that low SNR is bad... that's why he's asking which modem can hold his line together.

Personally I recommend a SpeedTouch 510. I don't think they make that exact model any more but theres bound to be one almost identical to it. This modem was recommended to me when I was having line sync issues and it sorted them out instantly. Nowadays it's powering my MaxDSL line at a full sync rate in both directions and hasn't desync'd for weeks.

The ST510v4 isn't made any more, and the new models use a completely different chipset.

The Billion (can't remember model number, search is your friend) seems to be a favourite.

any thoughts on the best modem for low snr...i.e less than 10db...
I was educated on these forums to believe that the Netgear DG834G was a good bit of kit for poor lines?

I have a pretty poor line myself and the router was sound on my 1 MB connection - no drops or loss of sync for ludicrous amounts of time :D

The v3 is out now and I can't vouch for that, but I can't imagine they've changed the chipset on the modem?

I've only ever used the v2 myself, and that's been great ;)

Not quite. It used to be pretty crappy on rate adaptive services, though whether it still is remains to be seen.

there seems to be more than one product with the 7633...is it the uk4 one?..or the one on this sites shop?.....i looking for a cable network so i presume its both wireless and cabled?

amazing really..had a noisy line for a year...tried with a linksys..zoomadsl and sounbalster modems all dropped the connection...snr around 10db....stuck the belkin on and the line noise has gone and the snr is holding steady around 14-15db.....nice bit of kit..
