Ok I'm a bit sick of the sky router I have its a Dlink not sure of the modelbut its a broadcom chipset. I harrassed sky into giving me a new hub but they sent the white one & TBH is worse than the Dlink.

A little background for you

I'm on G.DMT (ADSL1) as I sync higher and the connection is more stable than ADSL2+, on an 8.1mbps profile & max delay set to 8. I should sync nearl the 8mb mark for the my stats so wondering would a better router give me what I want.. also want a better wireless around the house.

STATS

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6923 kbps 797 kbps
Line Attenuation 40.0db 21.0db
Noise Margin 9.7db 15.0db

Many thanks in advance

Kev

I use a Billion 7800N and extracted the username and password from the Sky hub with wire shark

You need to be a bit clearer on a few things;

Budget?
When you say better wireless - do you mean range or speed?
What speed wireless cards do you currently have?
Are there additional features you want (e.g. VPN support, USB ports)?

Better range for wireless & possibly something to allow better or should say higher stable sync speed.

budget not stupid money unless I dig out my old 834gt

I've just had my black sky hub delivered and it only has 10/100 ports! I need to send fiels around the house much faster than this regularly arrrgghh why did I leave virgin! Anyone know what I can do? That means when the new fibre speeds over 80meg come out the damn thing won't be good enough with a max 10mb/sec my virgin actual broadband was faster than that let alone the router.

Buy a Gigabit switch (about £20) and connect it between your devices and the router.

If FTTC does go beyond what a 10/100 router will handle, then presumably Sky will provide an upgrade as part of the package.
