i was looking at the hiper and the ultra-x

but both failed custom PCs lab test miserably

i guess the only ones left are the Antec Neo HE and the Tagan Easyconn

neither of which are anywhere near as pretty

any other suggestions ?

Hi,

I got the OCZ 520w Modstream PSU from OCUK before they stopped selling them (don't know why they stopped selling them). Had it nearly 6months now and not had one problem with it and the blue lights do look pretty :p As you can see it can handle quite a powerful system (the one in me sig is being powered by it). So if you can find it elsewhere i would recommend it. Other than that I think Seasonic are brining out some modular PSUs soon not sure on looks though.

The Enermax Liberty range, good value too

They are excellent...

What do you plan to run with one?

I am using a 450w Aerocool turbine in my system which consists of a 3200+ @ 2.5ghz (1.55v), 160gb HD, 80 gb HD, overclocked 7800GT, dvd-rw etc. and it hasnt skipped a beat. Looks excellent too.

Heres a review of the 550w version

http://www.viperlair.com/reviews/cases/other/psu/acoolt550/p2.shtml

It is available for £70 so is a good alternative to the 500w enermax

its not going to be used for anything much

just want something pretty for the spare PC as it needs just had a new mobo and needs an ATX 2.0 PSU

Due to the single/double rail selection options for Tagans. Along with their quietness and comparativly compact plugs into the PSU I'd HIGHLY reccomend Tagan Modulars.

Tagans are always a good bet. They let you run either 1 or 2 rails too. Well worth a look.

Agree with both of them...Tagan!

IMO get the Enermax Liberty or the Tagan Easicon, both excellent PSU's

i think ill go for the enermax

on the grounds that the cables look like they will be nicer.

the system only has 2 HDs, a DVDrw and the mobo / cpu and an old agp radeon card so power isnt really an issue, and its the spare pc so its not going to be overclocked either

What wattage are you going for?

smallest there is

as i said, old agp radeon, 2 hds and a dvd-rw with an old p4. Total output no more than about 350 watts on full load for every component

380W minimum really, but try to stay around the 400w mark, this will give you the extra possibility of use in the future.
