Best Monitor For Me....

Hey guys,
I've recently overhauled my system [see signature] and I'm looking for another monitor, for more desktop real estate, and to help me editing and gaming [I use my old CRT at the moment for looking at temps and core usage]

I want it to be capable of a pretty high resolution, my current monitor tops at 1680 x 1050, so I would want it higher than that so I can use my current one as the secondary monitor. It must have DVI, and be at least 22". I've heard only good things about the Dell monitors, what do you pro's recommend?

Cheers, Chris.

What's your budget? If you're willing to pay a bit more you can get a better panel. The cheaper 1920x1200 panels are TN, which may or may not bother you. In case you don't know, the viewing angles on TN panels are usually poor, with some colour change across the screen even when sitting in front of the monitor. They are sometimes recommended for gaming, not so much because of lower response times but because some better quality panel types (I can't remember which) have a slight lag between the graphics output and the display (different from response times). This is probably not an issue though unless you're playing fps games at a high level!
IMO 30" panels are past the price-performance ratio - you could get three 24" panels for the price of one 30" - but if you've got money to burn, they are sexy. Only thing is, your current 1680x1050 will seem tiny next to it!

That's the wrong aspect ratio for games, it's 16:9 like TVs, not 16:10 (i.e. 1920*1200) like a monitor. Good for watching films, not perfect for gaming or general use.

Do you mean perfect as in not the golden ratio?

In terms of actually using that ratio for gaming, I've not encountered any issues with gaming on my 1920*1080 projector, except that it's so awesome I can no longer play on a regular monitor :(
