Come September I'll probably be looking to invest in a surround setup.

Can anybody recommend me a good monitor to purchase 3 of for a surround setup? I don't know what to specifically look for in monitors.

Only requests would be that they're 24" and 1920 x 1080. No 3D please.

Hi there,

May I ask what graphics card(s) you have or are planning to get, what will you mainly using the system for (is it mainly gaming or is it other uses too?) and do you have a budget in mind for all three monitors?

If you are gaming mainly (and your budget can support it) then I would recommend going for a set of 120Hz TN panel monitors. However, if you are doing stuff that prioritises image quality over motion handling then instead you may want to go with a set of IPS panel monitors.

There are however no 24" IPS panels, it's either 1920x1080 @ 23" or 1920x1200 @ 24". I'm guessing the "no 3d" is because of the price/no interest?

You may also want to mention which videocard you have as a third monitor usually requires something special, with the older NVIDIA's a second videocard, with the AMD's either a displayport monitor or active displayport converter. Only with the latest NVIDIA it works without any problems as long as all screens are connected using a digital connector.

At the time I'll probably have a 690 as I'll be planning to invest a lot for a good few years of future-proofing. I'll also have a budget of about 150 tops per monitor, I could probably stretch if they're really good, but trying to keep between 150 for 450 overall. I wouldn't want to break 500 ideally.
