Just a quick check here to see what the feeling is on the best upgrade from a nvidia geforce 220 , which is running to hot around 100 degrees for basic stuff like roadblox , had its day i think being used to play major titles like black ops ect , and is i guess the chip is now nakered . burnt out , even after replacing the cooling paste and cleaning the fans .
So trying to work out what is the best motherboard powered GPU for all round entertainment , movies , gaming ect , Without having to upgrade PSU , its not on the main gaming pc so just something suitable for the task on its platform of 775 MB , celeron 2.5 GHZ , 4GB ddr2 ram W7 32Bit .
Any suggestions ? cheers

Its a 350 watt OEM PSU which came installed begining life in a HP OEM PC with the gt 220 , as such it doesnt have the 6 or 8 pin plugs for big boy GPU"s , I dont know if there are adapters to take from sata or molex connectors though ?
but yeah it was never designed for heavy cards , just ones like GT 220 which draw fromn the PCI socket .
cheers beejjacobs

350 watt psu will happily power a cheap but good oldie like 8800gt. Much better performance and about same price as the stuff you mention. I'd go with 8800gt or its AMD equivalent.

it's a crappy OEM PSU and it's presumably quite old.

I wouldn't do it.

GT430 will be the best option OP

thanks yeah im not denying its crap , iv got a 250 watt somewhere up loft that is even more crap , thing is its the number 3 pc in the house , we have a pc with a 6970 and one with a 560ti , so just to keep it alive doesnt need to be upgraded as such , just the best for what it is , since its just really the collection of old parts , but it is handy , im using it now since i dont need a super computer monster just to sit here on internet watching Match of the day burning . So its just the best for what it can be . thanks ill have a look at those suggestions .
Just to add the gt 220 1gb has been a great servant for what it is , has been used for all the top games fair enough maybe not on ultra settings but something to the best standard like it , to do the job

No need for any pci-e connectors as with a Lano setup you just need the MB and AMD's combined Cpu-GPU chip with DX11 and some DDr3 Memory.

The A6-3670K would be my choice for the extra speed your cpu/gpu can gain.

I have a A6-3500 with a MSi MB(not stocked here any more), as a media PC in the bedroom and was very surprised in fact shocked by this more than capable setup that can play games at a very high level as it was only intended to watch movies.

I now have an added bonus that I can have a quick blast with some of my Steam collection that works with a wireless 360 controller, when the missus is watching yet another cooking program!

I realise it's £40-£60 pounds for what you need, but just thought I'd give you a heads up that £153 gets you a very good setup as you mentioned changing MB's in your op.

ATI 6670 is probably your best bet for a dedicated GPU that only requires power via the PCI-E slot. I bought one so that I could use our office Dell for a bit of occasional gaming and it works fine with the OEM PSU in that.

GDDR5 version is a bit quicker than the GDDR3 version. It's not particularly great value for money compared to a 6770 or 6850, but your PSU won't manage those.
