Best mouse for MMOs?

The best MMO mouse is a subjective decision. You obviously want one with a number of thumb buttons, but I'm on my fourth now and still haven't found one that fits my hand properly (I've had the original SteelSeries WoW mouse, the Corsair M90, Logitech G600 and my current Naga 2014)

If you can, I'd try a few at a retail shop. Finding one that has them on display may be a problem though.

You can try from e-tailers such as overclockers too, under distance selling regulations you can return it no questions asked within 14 days.
It may cost you a couple of quid in return postage though.

I'm finding the Roccat Nyth hard to beat. Modular side grip and customisable thumb buttons with a well shaped and comfortable grip.

I've got the Naga (epic chroma and expert) and the corsair scimitar rgb (software lets it down) among others and haven't found anything to dethrone my Nyth for mmo's.

Naga 2014 MMO edition. Nice clicky number panel on the side and the high street store that rhymes with flurrys have them in a box that opens so you can try it in your palm.

Ive had mine 2 year now and Im either going to get the Nyth or the ROG Spartha next week though.

Quite like my Deathadder, Saying that, I don't use macro's or key-mapping that much, but thats more because i don't know how.

choosing between the nyth and the steelseries 500. Naga looks like a nightmare for my claw grip... at least nyth has the option to throw in some dummy buttons.

Anyone tried the steelseries yet? Not seeing any reviews online yet.

I've tried the Steelseries Rival 500 and it's a great mouse I especially like that all the buttons bar the 2 to the left of the left mouse button and the 1 to the right of the right mouse button give a nice clicky response. The spongy side buttons were my biggest issue with the Asus Spatha so for the 500 to feel better to use for less than half the price is a result.

Unfortunately the mouse didn't suit my grip though. The way I hold a mouse my thumb rests on it's pad rather than being stretched out. I've marked on the picture linked here where my thumb rests.

I found the curved button furthest towards the front of the mouse particularly hard to reach. I did try adjusting my grip with my thumb stretched out but in doing so I was holding the mouse twisting to the left. Maybe I have short thumbs ;)

I had the same problem with the Logitech G502 where the sniper button is just too far out of my thumbs reach to be used.

I also had a Naga but couldn't get on with so many small buttons and I have a Nyth which is great for the buttons placement but I found to big and heavy at the time. Maybe I'll give that another go as in time I did get used to the weight and size of the Spatha.

Right now I'm back using a G502 as it's size, weight and feel suit me best plus it just about has enough buttons when I program the left and right scroll wheel buttons as well.

Using a Logitech G502 and almost enjoying it.Same issue as you buttons a bit stretched.Bought a G700s prior to that and couldn't get used to it although I didn't give it much of a chance.Would you believe I had a cheap g300s and that was excellent.Small and nice fit but very light:)

Tried both. The Nyth is far better when a large number of buttons are required. The button placement is far more comfortable and intuitive. The buttons on the SS are all over the place and is takes a lot of mental and physical effort to have you fingers shooting off in all different directions. On the Nyth the buttons are nice and ordered, making them instantly learnable, and despite what steelseries claim about this design being outdated they do not feel at all akward. Also the modifier is super easy to press which extends it's functionality.

The SS is not a bad mouse. It feels absolutely great in the hand and the mouse buttons are nice and clicky. I'd consider it to be an excellent fps/hybrid/moba mouse but when a large number of buttons are required the Nyth is the clear choice. Nyth also has a far superior scroll wheel... lovely and clicky.

Glad you like it, I love mine too. As you say it's perfect for mmo's :D
