I have a Magic mouse at home which I use on occasion when I connect the laptop to an external monitor. The functionality is great but I have to say the ergonomics for me, are poor. I do find it too low profile to be comfortable for extended use as well as too small. If you can, give the Magic mouse a try, at an Apple Store perhaps to see if it suits you.

I loved my old Logitech MX518 (yes it's a gaming mouse) for it's comfort and functionality but that is quite old now and I'm sure there are many newer, better models available.

From the title I was going to say a DeathAdder ;)

But for a MBP a Magic mouse is perfect. I find them a bit small but they are great for productivity imo and the way they work with a Mac you'd be silly not to!

I personally use Magic Trackpad whenever my work or home Macs are plugged into an external display, I use the gestures a lot and I feel the Magic Mouse is too small to be reliable of lot of them.

For any precise work such as Photoshop I'd say that a Magic Trackpad will be a little fiddly (and pointless as you've already got the same thing built into the machine itself). A mouse would be far better suited.

As for mice...you really ought to go and try. There's only so much we can tell you. I will say that in my personal opinion, the Magic Mouse is one of the worst mice ever created from an ergonomics standpoint.

I too use my Trackpad with the Mac Mini and iMac. The magic mouse is ergonomically horrible and the thing sucks when it comes to gestures. A good wired or bluetooth mouse with the Trackpad is a good combination, using the mouse for doing work where accuracy is required (such as PS) and the Trackpad for gestures and navigation the rest of the time.

I use a magic mouse for most of my design stuff and get on okay with it. You don't hold it like a normal mouse, you just flick it around with the finger tips. Gestures work well for me, and I'd be quite lost without them now.

I use a magic mouse, best thing since slice bread once you get used to the low profile of the actual mouse itself.

the features on it is pretty much limitless with the right apps.
