Hey all,

Got a RAT7 a while back, and recently been looking into getting a new mousemat - have an old Razer (one with two sides; one for 'precision' and one for 'speed').

I'd like one that's best compatible for my new RAT7; as I heard laser mice require different mats.

I'll be buying soon as someone recommends - I play pro games that require reaction speed and pin point accuracy.. Counter Strike Source specifically.

Any recommendations would be appreciated :)

Thanks all,

S

Thanks for the thread, was looking there and thats what sparked my thread off.

Was more looking towards laser mouse pads though-

I don't mind the texture really. I'm using a hard mat right now and just assumed a soft mat would prevent the gliders on my mouse from being used optimally?

Thanks for replies :)

The Qpad CT is a soft mouse pad with a texture thats like plastic, so its comfortable and the mouse glides like its on a hard surface. Best of both worlds.

I use the Boogie XL with my G500 (which is a laser mouse), and it works fine, plus it glides really smooth

Yeah I have teflon feet on it. Just re-applied the pads actually. So ready to get the mat to match.

I like the look of the Roccat one.. also; I think the frictionless design is more my thing for FPS- as I play from the wrist rather than moving my whole arm. It's quite high sens and any snags mess up aim. I do play at 800dpi though- Seems smoother and more responsive.

DO NOT USE A GLASS MAT WITH A RAT7. :p

I use a Razer Destructor with my RAT7 and could not be happier, silky smooth effortless movement and no issues with tracking at all.

Hey Sin,

Do you have any problems using a black mousemat like the Destructor? I've heard to stay away from black pads when using the RAT7?

None at all. I would let you come round and try for yourself but...bit of a distance :D

I'm no "Pro Gamer" but I think I would notice issues as it would annoy me no end. Nothing to report other than great tracking and near frictionless surfaces.

Maybe if you listed some of the supposed issues I might pick up on them...not seeing it though. The Destructor is a very dark graphite with a very fine textured surface (does not affect friction in a bad way however).

You do need to be careful to hold the unit totally flat when tightening the adjustment bolts, if it rocks on the surface any you are asking for trouble.

Destructor mat. Would never describe it as "shiny" but very much a matte finish.

I know this is a month late response, but I'm actually in the same situation. I have a RAT 9 mouse mat and am looking for a white mouse mat. Preferably a soft one. Funnily enough, right now I have the Razer Destructor (so my set up looks just like the one above... but wireless) and the tracking is indeed terrible for me as others have reported. When I pick up the mouse, theres a tiny bit of lag when you put it down and move the cursor. It's small, but noticeable. Also it takes ages for the laser to wake up on my destructor. About 10 seconds (along time when staring at it). When I try it on white paper - it wakes up instantly. RAGE. Worst thing though is that on the rare occasion, an axis will stop working till i lift it up (so it only moves up and down for example).

Anyways, I don't like the look of the Megamosa, so it seems my best bet is the scarab (tried my mates and it worked wonderfully). Though I think I may prefer a softer mat now, so any suggestions?
