Creative - My mates got a zen sleek and its a lovely bit of kit, very easy to use and very nice sound quality. I love the search feature in it meaning you dont need to scroll down a load of artists get get what you want and i also liek the fact that you can set your own theme and wallpapers on it. Only problem is that my mates has just started to develop dust behind the screen, and Creative wont replace i tunder warranty and he doesnt want to pull it to bits to clean the screen.

Sony - Very nice players, but i really dont liek the software required to transfer the music, but i aint used SonicStage for a while so maybe someone else can comment. The software alone made me ditch my minidisk as it decided to not install at all, and when i got it installed it wouldnt open, which made my minidisk a £100 brick.

Apple - Good value player, but be prepared for it scratching. I know 3 peopel with these players and all of them are very badly scratched on the screen even when using the protective leather casing. However, it is the cheapest, and it is easy to use.

Another one i would look at, and its the one i want when i can afford a replacement is the Cowon iAudio X5, maybe check that out before deciding as its a littl emore expensive than the ipod, but its gets much better user ratings.

With the Sony you have to use the abortion of software that is Sonicstage / Connect Player, which doesn't run unless the account you're logged into is an administrator account. With an iPod you have to use iTunes or an equivalent, which I don't mind, and have a pretty decent company supporting you. With Creative when it breaks they won't care.

Take your pick.

I've used several versions of Sonicstage and they all work fine logged in using a normal users account.

The latest version of Sonicstage is meant to be greatly improved although I've never had any problems with previous versions.

I had a Sony 1GB NW-E407 flash drive before and now I'm using an Ipod 60GB.
No problems with either player.

ive had a zen micro for a bit now... think its great.. not too big and definitely not insanely small like the apple nano thing.

nice design, good sound output.. fm radio... good backlight and a fair amount of hours without a recharge

If Video playback is a priority, then the Creative has the best video plaback with their M:Vision series.

In terms of SQ, the iAudio (X5)/iPod (G5) tops my list, although the Creative is not far behind (subjective).

I tried a couple of new Sony players in Japan around January, they were fine, but not that memorable (can't even remember the models), and I didn't spend enough time with them to make a meaningful conclusion.

*Cough*Apple*Cough* :p . I'm a Apple fanboy though so don't bother listening to me :). There are better players out there with more features (radio etc) but the iPod to me is just the perfect MP3 player (bar the scratching)

I've got a Sony HD5 (had it for a year now and its a really nice player to use).

The new version of SonicStage (Version 4.0) is fine. Its as stable as anyother program I've used and pretty simple. Infact Firefox is the program that crashes for me!

My mate has a Sony NWA3000, its the updated model of my player. It seems really good and has brilliant battery life ~30hrs. The OLED screen is cool aswell.

iPods have a radio add on now :)

Everyone I know has an iPod and everyone agrees they are 2nd to none!
