Best Mp3 Player for Less than £50

i've got a creative 512 does the job, i'm sure that a 1GB version will b in ** budget of if u are very lucky u may find a 2GB version.

personally i would go 4 a flash MP3 player, longer battery life and more robust

I'll 2nd the Creative. Had a loan of a Nuvo, several types of which can be had for less than £50. Though it was very good value for money, you could easily spend more and not get better sound.

You can get a Meizu M6 4GB off the bay for £57.99 all in, its very highly rated.

Amazing value for money, looks great, does video with a fantastic quality big 2.4" screen, good codec support, great sound quality, and powerful output.

Sorry for hijack but how good are the battery life for music and video?

Anyone have other suggestions, as the Meizu seems to be going above £60 now, and although it does seem to be a pretty good player, its obviously above the OPs original budget :)

(Im also interested in getting a similarly priced player, had been looking at the Sumvision ones but some seem to have lots of bugs, and they have short battery lives)

I recently bought a shuffle, only use it at the gym but its fantastic. If you dont need a dispaly and just want a great sounding mp3 player then you cant go wrong.

I was under the impression from comments and listening to my brothers Ipod (I forget which type), thats SQ on the Ipod series isnt really that great, its not terrible, but its nothing to write home about. The headphones with it were horrendous too, gave me a headache ¬_¬

My mum's ipod nano (bought dec06) is pretty much the same, although the headphones were a bit better.

Hmmm... The Meizu M6 is coming in at about 57 quid posted from China. I can't find anything that offers as much in the same price range. There's also the cheaper 2gb versions available, and these might come in at under £50 all-in.

As I got paid an extra £100 this month, even with car tax hitting me, it seems I have some extra unexpected cash to play with, so I've ordered a black 4GB M6, off ebay. Should be with me in 2 weeks roughly, so will give my opinion on it when it arrives, and I update to the latest firmware :)

Was considering the 8GB version, but seeing as the 4GB is already somewhat a frivolous purchase (its for work and moving around, I already have a car cd/mp3 player, and a hifi attached to my PC, so I wont use it much around the home), I couldnt justify spending the extra £30. If I end up using it a lot I might sell it on though, and buy an 8GB one later on :)

I bought me one too :D

A black 4GB model. I look forward to it's arrival!

Did you get yours from the 'bay? Mine's coming from a seller called popshing. It should turn up (hopefully) - they have good feedback!

Heheh same mate, same, black all the way, none of this ipod white rubbish :D Im liking the look of it, as long as its reliable, I should be rather fond of it, especially if Meizu update the firmware as much as they seem to be to add support and iron out bugs :)

I ordered mine on the 'bay from BeijingNetSupermarket, which was like £1 more than popshing, whom I also looked at, because they also had good feedback, and I didnt like the idea of this whole routing paypal through some marketworks payment procedure that popshing was on about. Another reason I ordered from them, was the guys I bought from were also selling a little crystal/hard plastic moulded case with a stand, bracket etc for the m6 to go with it for £6 inc delivery, so given I paid for them about 5 mins apart, they should arrive at the same time if all goes well :)

Here's hoping they come, and the firmware updates go well, and it turns out to be as good as some people have said :)

Hmmm, that's weird about the payment procedure thing. I just payed normally through PayPal.

So long as it turns up, I don't mind :D

It was this in the payment section below the item description that threw me off with POPshing:

'After you have won the auction, an email with MarketWorks checkout procedure will be sent to your eBay registered email address. All payments must go through the "MarketWorks Checkout". We do not sent out PayPal payment request.
We accept the following payment methods: PayPal '

Fair play, if it arrives and works fine, as you've saved a quid or two on me, I was just a little worried about the way that payment section was written, and the implications of routing my paypal payment through some unknown site, due to the amount of e-fraud these days.

Perhaps contact the seller to check your payment went through fine and everything, just to make sure :)

Haha, seems everyone's buying them now! The guy from BeijingNet updated my paypal payment details with a delivery tracking number this morning, so I presume the item has now been dispatched. The tracking number doesnt show on the site he's listed yet, but I wasnt expecting it to for a day or two anyway, I mean royal mail and DHL trackers are just as bad, so Im fairly used to trackers which take a day or two to start working, let alone some chinese global mail company haha
