So, i had an Iriver U10, which sadly passed away this week.

I need something to provide the quality through my Shure SE530's.

I'm in the market for another MP3 player with roughly the same amount of storage (I like to sample certain music at certain times and don't feel the need to carry ALL my music with me, so 2gb is fine).

As long as it plays MP3's i'm happy, i honestly couldn't care less about any other added extras.

I'm looking at the Iriver Clix 2, as a natural predecessor, but i hear that Sony also offer 'The Best' quality when it comes to MP3 players.

I've heard the new Sony's are supposed to be excellent with regards sound quality, but you have to sacrifice size and since you'd be using 320k or lossless, that wouldn't hold that much.

I think the sound quality of my 80G is very good and with the space to cope with my large collection.

custom pc reviewed mp3 players and thought that the samsung yp-p2 wa the best, i also find a decent pair of earphones works a treat

the BEST quality is that Kenwood MP3 player , can't recall the model number. It is the only audiophile mp3 player I am aware of. You can order them from Japan I think. Cost a few hundred probably.

Cowon D2, currently the best MP3 player on the market for sound quality.

no it isnt, the kenwoods are.

but since they are stupidly expensive and only available from japan, the next best things are the sony nwz-a8xx series. and dont worry, 192k mp3's are all you are likely to need on an mp3 player.

so..... there are many then i guess and it's just down to preference? I have mp3's which are pretty random when it comes to encoding... unfortunately...

To be fair 24gb won't last long with lossless.

Yeah tis the issue would be sorta forever sorting/shifting the collection but then hey there is a lovely Cowon Q5 60gig but its like 450 quid

Was looking at a i-Station T43 4.3" 60GB lately but am sure the bids will get silly towards the end cos its currently 33quid on fleabay :p

Does the Iphone support Flac if one uses that rockbox ?
