Hey Guys

Currently I have an MSI Neo2 Plat coupled with a CABYE Opteron 146 @ 2.9Ghz , with 1.475v's. FSB 290x10.

My problems is that when i go for the grail of 3ghz machine just wont post. :(

I also have Geil Value Ram at timing of 2.5 , 3 , 3 , 6.
When relating to CPU-Z with the system at 2.9Ghz, it says that my ram is at 196.3 Mhz or close.

I think adding the 5 to the FSB when going for 3Ghz is tipping my ram over 200Mhz (Its standard) and balls'ing it all up.

Only idea is that Modded Bios with different ram dividers. Any suggestions?
Also less extreme ideas are more than welcome.

Cheers Guys, Sorry for the lengthy message.

Luke :)

It could be your mobo just giving out. I have 2 of these and both go to over HTT of 300, but not all go this far. I use BIOS 1.8 with both a Venice and Opty.

1st find out how far the mobo will go in HTT; drop the mem divider to 100; drop the cpu multi to x8 or x9 and then try upping the HTT to 300 and further; if it's OK then the mobo is not the problem.

Edit: and make sure the HT multi is set to x3

Cheers for the replies guys. Much appreciated.

In my bios i have no HTT thing that i can set to like you say 300. I just have HT Multiplyers. I will try the first suggested bios though. To see if it can get my to the 3Ghz mark.

Thanks guys, Anymore ideas welcome. :D :)
