Well I have managed to pick up another Dell 2001FP of the bay, so I can repalce my 17" second monitor.

So which distro is best for dual screens? I am not overly fussed about the cube stuff, but the whole transparency etc from vista I would like to keep.

I will still dual boot with Vista due to gaming

all of them....

Urm you probably should jsut being thinking about the graphics card your using, its apparently simpler to get dual screens to work on nvidia cards instead of ati cards (i havnt played) and these are independent of the distros....

I have dual screens working on ubuntu and had to change from an ati card to a cheapo nvidia card as the ati card jus couldn't fit the resolution of both the screens for some reason even though windows could

Anyway gd luck

Im having this problem with my 4870, wish I had kept my 8800GT now :/

in ubuntu/mint load up terminal and type this (after installing the nvidia driver)

gksudo apt-get install nvidia-settings

its a little program to help you setup dual screens........ i miss my nvidia :/ why oh why did I take the red pill?????

I've just setup dual monitors for the first time using an older ati card in ubuntu 8.10, all i get on the 2nd monitor is a lot of fuzzy lines :)

Anyone got any ideas?

ha, that's probably not going to happen. It's not a big deal as it works well in XP (dual boot) but it would be nice for it work :)
