hi,

having just moved to vista 64bit i was thinking about trying a new music player for my mp3s and so on but i am a bit out of touch with players as i spent a few years using music match so if there is a program that will improve on this then please post.

also is there a site that will let me download CD covers so they will show up when ever i use the 3d browse on vista ?

Thanks

CD covers are out there somewhere but they were deemed illegal a while back. Dunno why.

I use Foobar2000. Dunno if it works in vista tho. Its small and does'nt use hardly any resources.

As i said, never had problems. I always have it running in the background whilst gaming etc. No slowdown at all :)

which could well be an issue if your pc only has 128mb of ram. for those of us with more than that, it shouldn't be a problem. :D

btw i'm a foobar fanboy, i'm not trying to defend winamp at all. it's just a silly argument you're using there.....

vote #3 for winamp :) can't beat this, IMO:

that tucked away on 10% visibility until hover at the top of my second monitor  much prefer it to any other media player i've tried

I use iTunes because Foobar2000 refuses to work with embedded album art! (I have the plugin for it but it's a no-go)

Anyway I do like iTunes apart from the slight interface lag I get. :o

Foobar is popular round these parts, but takes a lot of configuration to get perfect.
WinAmp is good, but i find a little clunky(prehaps not the right word).
WMP11 is nice and reliable.
iTunes is my program of choice. Auto album art download, easy to rip, easy t download, easy to organise. Bit of a memory hog, but ive got 2Gb, so a few extra tens of Mb is neither here nor there really. :).
Imo. :).

Another vote for foobar here

You can use replaygain in a really easy way to make sure all of your albums play back at a constant level, or (i do not use this tho) have each track at the same average volume for a mixed playlist, which would be great for party music etc.

I believe winamp has this feature but am not sure. I gave up on winamp since i kept getting "invalid memory access" errors and have never looked back
