I've ploughed through the 14 pages in this section but it seems nobody has asked this q recently.
In terms of coverage, reliability and customer service, which operator would you rate as the best as i am considering various deals with various operators.
I'm changing from Three btw.

Thanks
:)

I'd say o2 overall, but everyone has their favourites :)

I've been with Vodafone and they were brilliant BUT expensive compared to o2/oranage/t-mobile.

P.S - Three are ****ing awful! :o

Indeed, everyone has their favourites.

I'd've said Orange based on decent coverage and reliability, but mainly on Customer Service. Never fail to get to speak to someone, day or night, within about 20 seconds. And they're always in the UK.

They are pretty pricey though, but if I'm getting good service I'm not too bothered.

Thanks for the replies.
I'll let you know in due course which one i opted for. Looks like Orange based on the phone deals available.

O2 - Good coverage, good customer service but can get annoying if you want to leave them. O2 Online deals are good value.

Three - Brilliant deals but that's it, the coverage isn't the best and the customer service based in Bombay is terrible.

T-Mobile - Good coverage (on par with O2) brilliant customer service and are always happy to help. Flext deals are the best out at the moment.

Vodafone - Good coverage but has some bad spots, customer service is a bit hit and miss. The deals and tarrifs are by far the worst.

Virgin - Ok coverage, customer service is quite good, the deals are good for the money but still doesn't compare to T-Mobile Flext.

Orange - Coverage is getting worse, customer service is by far the worst. Last night i was on the phone for a customer for an hour and half and they still didn't help in the slightest. Deals are ok, but online deals are good.

Er Virgin runs off T-Mobile's network iirc, how can they have OK coverage but T-Mobile have good coverage? :p

Personally I'd disagree with that but it entirely depends on the area you live in. I've been on T-Mobile, can't get a signal where I live (and I don't live in the countryside) and it's extremely patchy throughout swansea, and Staffordshire when i visited there.

Hang up and try someone else. Always works for me :) Actually it seems to work for most networks, you can get entirely different answers all because of who answers the phone.

Someone should tell all the industry benchmarks that put Orange at the forefront for customer service and satisfaction....

However, they are strict on process and procedure when it comes to support, so you may find if you're demanding something that you're not entitled to, you won't get it. Some people seem to be under the impression that good customer service involves giving the customer (or a dealer trying to paint the network as a bad guy when it's the dealer's mistake) what they want.

i used orange for 7 years and they were very good. just moved to 02 last year cos of their online deals. i dont think they have quite as good coverage as orange in my opinion.

i don't know about that, orange coverage for me has gone really iffy especially around where i live - where it keeps going from 0 bars to 5 bars and up and down etc. It has also been happening in other parts of london (on different phones) - but maybe im falling prey to random freak accidents!

I've had a different experience of O2 - good coverage, good deals but poor customer service. The staff are friendly enough and it's not hard to get through to them but they seem badly let down by poor systems: whenever I've tried to change tariffs, upgrade etc. they've not done what they'd agreed they'd do because requests have gone to one department but not another. For instance, last time I changed tariff, everyone but the billing dept were informed and my service was cut-off because my direct debit didn't cover what the billing department thought I should be paying! (at least that's what they told me!)

Another time I was offered a great deal on an upgrade: I got a new phone, loads of extra minutes and a reduction in monthly tariff - then I got a bill for the phone. It took a number of phone-calls to sort out

Personally i dont think there's much to call between O2, Orange & Vodaphone. I would avoid T-Mobile as i find their coverage awful. I have a T-Mobile phone for work and Orange for myself and there are spots in central london where the Orange phone has 5 bars and the T-Mobile has no signal at all. So bad that i think we're going to drop T-Mobile completely for work mobiles.

strange, i'd say the reverse is true quite often

Orange - great coverage

Absolutely spot on customer service - well I am a premier customer :D

o2 - ok coverage round here

Poor customer service though :(

If money is no object then I've always found Vodafone to be the best.

Their coverage is the best that I've experienced and they also seem to have more network capacity. Sending a text at 4-5pm on other networks, like Orange, seems to take forever to be received, but Vodafone always sends it reliably. Their range of devices is very good and services like *#100# are very useful.

However, their deals are pretty poor and can't compete with T-Mobile and 3.

Haha...

you probably wont be surprised but -

I think Vodafone is the best, AFAIK no one can beat their repair procedure, the shops are VERY lenient with what they can do (i.e. sometimes might just replace parts instead of asking you to send it all off and 70% of problems can be sorted in store). Customer service...always get to speak to someone very quickly however there are a few numb nuts so I just hang up and try again. Also Voda seem to get the best phones first and their coverage IS the best.

Orange - Orange are very good however coverage is a bit iffy, the staff in store arent very helpful, just seem to want to sell sell sell.

T-Mobile - when I was with them, they were flawless, but I had nothing go wrong at all

o2 - Had bad customer service with them, one time wanted to get my phone repaired under warranty, they said 28 days and no loan phone

Tried 5 different numbers for them ranging from customer services to dealer support.

Even the guy i got through too admitted they have gone downhill and need more staff.

As if, thats sounds BS,(like your review of the networks. Virgin/T-mobile lol:D
) as if they would say something like that. All there calls are recorded and unlike other networks Orange do actually listen to them.

Hmm What?
Seeing as you are supposed to be in the industry your not very well educated on the networks are you? :p I thought everyone knew Virgin is T-Mobile

I was with Orange since i was 16 and on now have i got rid of it, and im 27. Always had nothing but excellent customer service from there. Signal always excellent and even in the remote areas where i get a low signal its enough to have a good call.

Im now with T mobile Flex-t, how i wish i never made the switch. I now think the network is over subscribed unless they are supposed to always drop calls and the like. When they first started as mercury one 2 one around 10 years ago my friends got there phones and the calls were always dropping out or network busy tones. Nothing seems to have changed to be honest, and to be quite frank its very embarrasing when talking to clients. My orange line never ever done this and if it did then i would get reimbursed on some of the money as per oranges customer service guarantee.

Orange just got to dear for me im afraid, and the unlimited data is a big pull for me.

THAT is the only reason im with t mobile now as the signal and switching gears performance is diabolical.

You can have full signal and then it just drops the call and then u have to wait a second for the signal to come back. And no its not the handset, im a competent enough user to know. My gf is on the same network, we both left orange at the same time.........She doesnt really notice as she just text's but even when im using phone its the same. And the amount of my friends on T-mobile that drop off or cut out is hooooge. I supposed it depends on what your used to really.

To summarise I found Orange to be the best Overall network and if you need to have a good reliable connection i would choose them over T mobile every time. How ever if you just want a "raw" cheap connection then T-mobile is the way to go. O2 seem a good all rounder as well. Vodafone used to be geared towards the business consumer but recently have worked very hard to gain customers from the public sector and they do have some reasonable deals so look around as there standard tariffs can be quite expensive. Stop the clock is a good bonus though.

On a side note I believe Orange are the only company to provide 24hr handset replacement as well. In the 10 years i was with orange i must have got through something like 30-40 handsets? One year i had over 9 7110's as the flip kept breaking. Orange never argued once and they never have done with any other claim. Theres something quite amazing about ringing at lunchtime on monday to report a phone fault then by 12 the next day a courier magically arrives with a new handset for you! You do how ever have to pay for this honor.

Edit forgot to say, i may notice the drop outs more than most as i was/am a business user so can be on the phone for an hour in one call. And make around 25 calls a day

I'd agree with the above on Orange. Adding to the 24hr handset replacement - this applies at weekends too! I reported a fault on my phone on Saturday, and I had a new phone by Sunday lunch. Incredible!

Vodafone do provide this, but I am only 100% sure about their business side, not sure about consumer, however you can just go into the store and get a replacement if not at least a loan phone.
