'Best' New CPU for me?

Do you know how to copy the benchmark HUB run?
Nope, but can look it up. I can play the game fine, there's one multiplayer server where the action gets intense, my system cant keep up which means I cant play when the scenario gets busy. Plus, I'm long overdue an upgrade.

I‘be ordered a key, I can put up some performance numbers but you’ll need to tell me what to do and how to bench it as I’ve never played it before.

Thanks but I dont think it's needed as such. Plenty of benchmarks. This is on a specific server where the 'load' is dramatic due to the scenario. Please dont use the key if you dont need to.

I should perhaps start a new thread but any view on what chipset to go for in terms of Mobo? B650 or X670 as well as their respective E versions?

Level1Tech (Wendell) used Factorio in a YouTube video test for a 3D chip, it destroyed other chips for that, think it was up to 400 updates per second.

I can see why he's not too sure about the 7950X3D....

The 7800X3D is so fast its not even funny but because the 3D cache resides on only one of the two CCD's on the 7950X3D its a different story, i did read around brifly and apparently of you add Factorio to the MS Game Bar it fixes this problem and the 7950X3D performance like the 7800X3D.

The main thing to consider is: how many PCI-E lanes do you want (i.e. the number of M.2 slots and the PCI-E config of other slots). Your answer to that question (together with PCI-E 5.0 graphics or not), decides which chipset is appropriate for you.

A good starting point is the £200 B650 Tomahawk, it has decent sound (including spdif), 3x PCI-E 4.0 M.2 and 6 SATA. If that's not enough, then you can go up from there. E.g. £270 B650E-F Strix has PCI-E 5.0 graphics, 3x M.2 (one is PCI-E 5.0) and similar audio (with SPDIF) to the Tomahawk.
