Best Non-Conductive Thermal Paste?

Have ordered a Gelid Icy Vision cooler to fit to my loud and hot 470.

I believe that such comes with some thermal paste but would like to fit the 'best' (without spending a fortune!) so that I can get the best drop in temps that I can.

In stock have got:-
Mx2; and
xigmatek PTI-G3606
and will have , I believe, GC2 (from Gelid).

I last fitted an after market cooler to my Zotac 8800GT - it's still running happily in my sons computer but I used AS5 (of which I've still got a fair bit) which I now understand I should not have as it's conductive.- Got to say that even I should not have used it NOT one problem with it in the years since it was fitted and it did/does cool well:)

I do not mind spending a few £ in getting a really good , if not the 'best' paste for a gpu.and believe that it 'must' be non-conductive. So...

Your Views ?
 
Never really had a problem with AS5 myself either. Many different reviews give different results about whats the best. And the difference between the top pastes are usually 0.5 - 1 degree. Personally I'd stick with mx-2 save a few £'s or go with mx3.
 
Hang on, if it is a gelid cooler, check if it comes with gelid paste. All of the gelid paste I have used has been brilliant. They have the extreme and the normal versions and they are both good.

as-5 isn't non-conductive. mx-3 is now pretty much "the daddy", unless you use one of the really expensive specialist ones like shin-etsu. I still use as-5 as I'm cheap and my tube from 5 years ago still hasn't run out.

The cooler is due Tuesday from OcUk - I believe that there will be some Gelid GC2 paste included.

Late yesterday thought I'd try a few 'googles' ref Gelid paste and found one review which posted that the GC2 paste is much easier to use than MX3 (this is def. a + imo as have found mx2 a bugger to use and reviews of mx3 have said it's similar in use:() but runs 1c hotter both idle and load.(Not a lot I know but I would still prefer the lower temp.)

I'd tried searching before but had not hit upon this review so it was a bit of a 'pause for thought' moment.

Will probably change my mind again before it's done but have decided to take rkjoneill's advise and wait to see what it comes with. If it does come with the GC2 will use it and see how well it does - I can always buy some mx3 later :)
 
AS5 - In a lot of ways I would prefer to use this ; I know how to apply and what to expect which ,for me, are big +'s. BUT ,as jimbob mentioned it is conductive which could cause problems so .....the cautious approach it is.

As-5 has always worked for me. Conductivity is not an issue unless you are careless in application.
 
AS5 is not conductive, but it is somewhat capacitive. This worries people a bit, so it's somewhat out of fashion. I'm using arctic ceramic (ceramique?) when not too worried about temperatures, and liquid pro + lapping when I am. I'm not really convinced that the difference between various pastes is bigger than the error in measurement.
