Hi guys, been a long time since i was here, been busy with doing up my first house, so i'm out of the loop a little bit when it comes to pc's.

So, my question is, 'Which is the best (fastest) nVidia AGP GPU i can buy for £100?'

Yes, it has to be AGP, and also has to be nVidia, i have my reasons and it is a short term solution, hence the £100 max price.

Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Sig is 5 lines of small text max mate! I would cut that one down preeety sharpish!

i paid a whole 100sheets for my 7600gs as i was desperate (bought it locally :p) but i've seen other threads where people have managed to get them online for 65inc vat + del.

(also the overclock from 400 to 520 on the core with a weedy little cooler is not to be sniffed at. :))

Yep, i'd love to look on the Members Market, but for the second time i can remember there's been a post count requirement increase to access it. I used to use it quite a bit back in the day but again it's been taken away from me, looks like you have to be some recluse shmuck who sits on forums posting all day to be considered trust worthy, whatever happened to the old ***** (EDIT: cant quite believe i'm not allowed to say that!) trust days?, oh well....

Jonny L - Thanks for the link. Just out of interest, would you know where my existing ATI 9800xt 256mb would slot into your little scale?, just as a point of reference for me.

marc2003 - This sounds interesting, as i only need this for a temporary measure this could be a solution, depending on where it sits performance wise with my existing ATI 9800xt 256mb. It's temporary, but not temporary enough to warrant a performance hit.

Hxc - Rules are rules i suppose.... Consider it done.

Thanks for your help guys ;)

Considering u just about insulted everyone here with a miserly 250 post and 3 months membership Id say this:

Id rather buy and sell with "recluse shmuck"'s that have the boards infested with spam posting con artists.
How can u be so untactful to ask for advise then insult everyone, and imply you are more "worldly" than the rest of us? I think u might call it a paradox, oxymoron or just plain ironic.

I supposed the correct terminology for someone like u is NOOB, you've been interested enough to sign up 3 yrs ago but u still know nothing.

Well, i 'know nothing' because of what i said in my first post, i've been busy with my house. I was not insulting anyone on this board, why would i insult people that i don't know, and that have something to contribute to an online community such as this.
What i was saying is, would you have found me more trust worthy if i had sat at my pc and spammed your forums until i hit the 250 mark?, Spam, because i 'know nothing' and dont have a lot to add to your community. I know a lot about a lot of things, i'm just out of the loop with pc's at the moment.
Megatron, i can see how my above comment may have looked, but i think we all know posts don't always convey exactly what the author was thinking (the sarcasm problem, for example).

Anyways, all i can say is sorry if i have offended anyone, but this is certainly not what i intended to do. I'm a member of quite a few forums and i dont have a bad rep on any of them, i dont want to create one here.

It would be at the bottom, not to say it is a bad card, but the others would beat it quite easily.

performance hit? :p it's more powerful than that. i used to have a 9800pro overclocked to nearly xt speeds and the 7600gs is quite a bit faster. :)

Thanks Jonny L & marc2003, i kind of expected this result, but i wanted conformation from people in the know :p . It's hard to believe my xt cost £300+ when i bought it :( .
Anyways, this is good news, because i dont have to spend a lot to at least equal my ATI performance. I think i was maybe put off by the lack of substantial looking coolers on these nVidia cards, and the fact my 9800 is faster mhz wise than 1 or 2 of the aforementioned nVidia cards. I'm comparing them in my mind to the size of the cooler on my 9800xt (Stock, which is a lot bigger) and thinking they can't be as good if they dont need cooling as much.
Do nVidia's just run cooler than ATI's? or is it just that technology has moved on in the last 3 years and gpu's are knocking out less heat nowadays?

Anyways, i think my original question has been answered now, thanks for your help guys ;)

7600gs agp is not too shabby if your on lower rez stuff. i have a 7600gs powering my lcd tv at 1360x768 and i can run all the games iv tried on it so far at the screens native rez with 2xQ AA. only game that struggled was age of empires 3 but reducing the shadow detail to low sorted all that out.

Yer ATI cards do tend to run a bit hotter than nvidia, but technology has also moved on now, so which card are you gonna go with?

Cheers guys. I need to run at 3840*1024, hence my reason for opting nVidia this time, ATI's just cant run 3D overlays at this res. So i'm pretty sure i'm gonna go with the 7600gt, providing i can find it for PrinzEugen's estimate £110 (Any links?, cheapest i can find is £130)
My 9800 can run the games i play at 2400*600 easily, so i think the 7600gt will provide the extra oomph needed to up the res.
