Building a new system want an nvidia card to go in it no ATI already have my main rig with a 4870.

Haven't had a nvidia card for ages so no idea what is the best to go for on that budget it'll be running at 1680x1050 and may have the odd game played on it like COH or Aoin.

thanks in advance

Best bet BFG

but for £100 you better of with ATI and This Tis faster, no point is going Nvidia just because you havent had one for a while, that's just sacrificing performance just to buy with a particular brand. :o :p

Its deffinatly worth putting the extra £30 in if you have to go with nVidia (and I can't blame you) - its a hard sell buying an nVidia card, even if your a diehard, in the £100 area with the 4870 down there.

If you aren't gaming, then there's no point in spending £130 on a graphics card. A £50 card will handle outputting that res for general use, and will be quieter as you could get a passive card.

Oh missed that point - if your only doing occasional gaming on it and not going for too high a (gaming) resolution then you might wanna take a look at:

Seems pointless spending £100+ on a GPU if your rarely gaming on it.

LOL...sorry Rroff not a dig at you in particular just the way things are at the moment ok so if he decides he want to go cheaper why not one of these.

OcUK GeForce 9600 GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card

cheaper and faster and oh my god .......i dont believe it .....it actually is what the opening poster wanted an Nvidia card......but neverfear someone will be along in a moment to sugest crossfire 4890's just because they are reasonably cheap at the moment.:eek::eek::eek::rolleyes:

again not a dig at Rroff in particular just a general rant.

Because that card is passively cooled (quiet) and still reasonable enough for gaming at lower resolutions if he wants to do the odd bit of gaming - it also doesn't need an extra power connector and so probably uses less power overall (max power draw is 59 v 96 - not sure about idle).

Don't worry I'm not an ATI fanboi ;)

I realise I CAN have another ATI but I WANT(;)) an nvidia performance it not going to be an issue as it will mainly be for playing around with virtual servers and will be more of a backup system to my main.

I appreciate your suggestions though.

I think i'll put a bit more cash to it and get something like this which seems to be a decent card

i've got 2 of these in my system and they are great, well worth the extra £30 ish over a 250, they are quite and run very well :D

I should have put a bet on how many people would recommend ATI cards :D

Any way I am going to go for the 260 as I normally two box on mmo's and am liking the look of Aion at the moment.

Thanks for all the suggestions though ;)

To be fair tho its hard to reccomend an nVidia card at the £100 point atm - even for someone like myself who isn't a big fan of ATI in any shape or form.

I can't be bothered to go into depth as to why, because to anyone with an ounce of common sense it's obvious, but that's a very stupid rant.
