I'm in the process of making my shopping list for building a new PC. I've read many reviews saying that Core 2 Duo appears to be the way to go. I was going to select a e6400 as I feel it has the best price/performance ratio. I am going to use the pc for gaming & as a HTPC. The motherboard I was looking at is the ASUS DH Deluxe as it appears to have everything I need (SATA, Surround Sound and lots of room for expansion/upgrading but it doesn't necessarily have to be this mobo. I also feel an ideal amount of RAM would be 2gb. Speccing this up on OCUK comes to ~£630...

I then found the bundles which have numerous options featuring an e6600/mobo/2gb ram for ~£500 (big saving...).

So, which of the Core 2 Duo Bundles do you think is the best? I would like to overclock the CPU to about 3.4Ghz relatively easily...

I'd probably still opt for picking yourself when you can get something like this. The 965 chipset is normally considered better for overclocking the 6300/6400 chips, you also get good Ram and an aftermarket cooler for the £500 however I make no guarantees that you will get 3.4ghz out of it. You might be lucky(read as quite likely) but overclocking is an inexact science and relies on more than just these components. :)
