So as the year draws to a close what's been your photography highlights? Your best shot perhaps or best achievement. Lets hear and see them :D

Not so much the photos I've taken as the knowledge imparted to me by an old hand at photomanipulation, which has allowed me to turn so many of my pictures into something for me to be proud of.
Simple things like adjusting brightness/contrast, colour balance, cloning...

I would say that the best photo I have taken this year (at least in my opinion :p) would be this one of the Weir Wood Reservoir. It took me some time to remove marks from a grubby lens, and then adjust the brightness and contrast, crop it to a size which I felt had more impact, and then adjust the colours ever so slightly. But the result is so much more than the original.

Building up a more sucessful client base and getting my name more known. Working on using more advanced lighting techniques.

My best shots arent really my work stuff but more my enjoyment work for myself.

I dont think this is my best piece but I chose this due to it been of my home town and makes me smile looking at a place as nice as this in my own small town.

I guess I'm just enjoying learning all about my DSLR which I got this summer. I now fell like I know pretty much all the settings and their impact on the shot.

Here's one of my favourites from the year.

Unfortunately this year I've really taken a step back in photography, I've barely ever had the time, or been anywhere to inspire me. Although I only took this photo the other day I think it's quite a nice one, and hopefully If I join the DSLR club I can post more. Most of my photographs are taken on my film SLR. :)

CyKey - Can't wait for your 2006 compilation, if you're doing one the same as last year. :)

Passing my first year photography degree, and gaining a higher understanding of photography as an art, rather than a technical process.

This is my first year in photography. Still a lot to learn and I've had some helpfull advice from a lot of people on here (thanks!). I hope to try to get out more in 2007 and try some different styles of photography and different subjects.

99% of the subjects I've shot this year has been military jets and from that my favourite is this shot of two pairs of Typhoons returning to base. Rather than just joining the circuit and come into land they decided to form up and then break away one at a time, into the circuit and then landed. Not technically my best shot but I like it....

This year has been pretty good with shots of everything for motorsports to fflowers. This is one that still makes me smile :)

Highlights of the year this year for me were:

Securing a deal to license my photos and prints, then real punters buying them

Seeing my name credited on the back of a postcard for the first time.

Spending the proceeds, expecting a 350D but haggling almost £100 off the price of a 30D body!

My highlight has to be moving on to a DSLR from my a85 about a month back.

All my fav shots at the moment are from my old camera.

Getting a couple of my photo's printed in TVOC Magazine. :D

Raising nearly a grand from the sale of prints of photo's for TVOC.

Well the highlight for me this year was starting photography in the first place :p . Ive learned a lot and i think ive come a long way since i first started so i cant wait to see what happens next year :)

This is a bit of a tricky one that I've been mulling over all day. I think 2006 can best be summed up as a solid rather than outstanding year in photographic terms. Inspiration has been a bit short but there have been one or two highlights.

  • Finally got round to trying to sell some of my stuff. Total sales so far - 1 :-(
  • Managing to take 15000 artistically unimpressive photos in 8 days at Goodwood & RIAT.
  • Shot my first wedding, albeit as the unofficial photographer. Still very nerve wracking but it went well.

Shot of the year? You'll be shocked to realise it's not of a car or a plane but from the above mentioned wedding.

hi's and lows for me this year tbh

highs - buying the camera of my dreams (5D), selling over 180 prints + albums, getting more work including recomendations and just having daughter which gives me a 2nd little one around the house to photograph! ohh and spending an hour playing with 1ds mk2 & a 600mm F4 IS at silverstone!

lows - probably not having the time to get out with my camera more. All due to being a dad i guess. maybe next year...

2006 hasn't been a good year for me as I've not really had the time or inclination to go out and take photographs. My entries into the photo comp have been few and not well received as effort wise even I would admit i've not really bothered, hence 3rd from bottom for my candid shot which I was surprised at. It should have been bottom ! ;)

Anyways what is good is that the oldtimers on here appreciate me for doing good photography (sometimes) and quotes like 'Not up to your usual standard' where I've not thought I had one, has helped me buck me up so 2007 will be better honest !!

As for good things for this year, let me see..

Having this photo chosen as PhotoBlog post of the day on Oct 6th was nice

Linky!

Selling custom business cards with repeat business to ppl using my photographs as backgrounds.
Creating a b&b website for the Wye Valley using my photographs of the area
Planning an exhibition of my photographs in a local hotel
Getting deals with local businesses willing to sell my photography next yr

So plans for 2007 involve making money from my photographs which most of my friends say I can do but which remains to be seen.

And in this space I would like to thank the few following ppl for proving an inspiration and promoting this forum. Their technical support and great photography in here make it an interesting place to lurk ;)
