Basically,I have got around 60gb worth of pics and i have them backed up on my netbook and 2 external hard drives but im thinking of online backup...so whos the best company to go with? any free options out there?
thanks guys

Just be aware of the time it'll take to upload 60gb of data ;)

Would probably be easier to just store one of your external HDDs at another family member's house and back up once every month or so.

Carbonite wants to install a small, nonintrusive program that scans for changes to files. Not keen on that and I bet it doesn't play nicely with linux.

I've used dropbox occasionally, (very) simple interface and 2gb is free. I believe it's based on rsync, though I may well be wrong there. It offers 50gb for $10 or 100gb for $20 per month.

Alternatively leaving hard drives dotted around works well. I've got a flash drive at a friends with my work documents on, but haven't organised offsite backup for anything else.

Just another thought, depending on where you offsite backup and what they are like you may want to do some sort of hard drive encryption too.

Obviously depends whats being backed up

Dropbox is another one which is very good IMO, all your dropbox files can get synced to any pc which you have the dropbox client installed.
