I'd recommend looking at Crashplan, been using it for a year and it's been flippin excellent. Very slow upload initially but changes are nice and fast. I'd argue that it's more of a disaster recovery site rather than a backup as the recover speeds aren't great if you were needing a full restore quickly but I can't fault it for being reliable and easy to use.
Only recently started using Crashplan with a localised backup also (encrypted on an old drive I had spare) but it's possible to use the service without the cloud for free and backup to your mates PC, data is still encrypted but simply on your mates PCs as an off site backup.
I only started using it as I lost several Gb worth of holiday snaps and didn't want a repeat with the photos of my honeymoon etc, think I've got around 210Gb on it now.
