Best Operating system for gaming

Well basically when i got 2 more gigs of ram i changed to windows xp 64 bit and it was quite **** as soundcard does not work at it some programs do not work to like windows media player 10 and higher. source based games get super low fps(40 - 60 ) and before i got (high 100 - 200) other games are fine.

I quite liked xp 32 bit as everything worked fine in it just that it does read more then 3.25 gigs or ram and i have 4. Hows windows vista 64bit?

vista 32/64 is on par with xp now if not its slighty faster i'm using vista 32 atm and it runs all my games fine cod 4 etc

vista64 is not even close to xp performance for me, with differences of between 10-15% on some games (Cod4, gears of war) and a difference of between 15-20% on crysis (although that is running in 64bit mode, so not a fair comparison)

Vista 64 is noticeably slower for me too. I'd say stick to XP for gaming for now, unless you want to use DX10.
