Hi,

When I move into my new house my PC will be going into the box room temporarily, because its only temporary I need a wireless or EOP solution but the PC is mostly used for gaming so I'm concerned about performance.

The PC has no WiFi solution currently, wired is not an option as the PC will be relocated downstairs early next year.

Whats the best method of connectivity? I dont have much faith in the wiring as its a 1960's house so will probably look at wireless but what whats the best option for gaming? Distance isn't too bad, the router will be pretty much below it.

Thanks

I've never seen any evidence that 'modern wiring' is better for Powerline. Powerline works best with the adapters on the same circuit and older wiring tends to have fewer individual circuits. With old wiring it's worth checking that all of the terminal screws are tight in the fittings.

What ever you choose will be a lottery. I'd test the wireless signal with another device before deciding.

Thats easy enough to do I can just use my phone in the room, whats the best method just a speed test on fast.com or something, If so what kind of speeds am I looking for to get a good gaming experience and what kind of adaptor would be reliable?

I've always been cabled in the past so WiFi and EOP for gaming is completely alien to me.

Thanks

Decent cat 6 cable plugged into a router or switch, drill through the wall or put it out of a window and then back in where the PC is going.

Looks interesting thanks, what do you mean by decent router? I'll be getting Virgin Media so it'll be whatever they install

Just a router that supports 802.11ac, Superhub 3(if you get that) is ok.

I have the card down from the one I linked and get really good connection/speeds. Albeit wired is always better its fine for my gaming.
