I have been using a windows 10 tablet connected to a TV via hdmi however its a cheap linx tablet and rather slow. I am wondering if there is better alternative to a tablet or laptop with similar power consumption as a laptop that i can just install and hide away. I only need it for web browsing and watching youtube/netflix.

dont know if you still get them but there was a intel compute stick they was very good for this type of use
How much are you looking to spend?
If you want to stick to low power, portable but fair amount of performance GPD do a bunch of devices but they are moderately expensive - I use the GPD Pocket (original version) quite a bit for that kind of stuff.
There are a bunch of cheap generic Windows 10 tablets of varying quality and performance which will also be low power but most are a bit meh.
Most proper laptops will be 2-4+ times the power use even with low power profile in use.
You can get varying micro computers as well such as the various NUC devices but I have less experience with them.
