best option for recording CS:GO and Source

Looking to record segments from CS series, for me and my mate. We like to set up challenges for one another so I'd like to record these clips into a video.
I know about FRAPS but is there something free and equal?
The main thing would be to auto-write over, say for instance its recorded a game that I dont wish to keep, it will not create a 2nd file, or just 1 really huge file of all games played. Can I just set a max file size?

thanks for those tips, had a quick try there, just so I'm clear,
open console then its just "record demo cs1" for instance?
